Grid Intelligence ServicesSee the Romanian grid the way a developer needs to.

Bespoke work on the Romanian power grid for developers, investors and owners of wind, solar, storage and hybrid projects. It starts from public data, the same data behind our free Romanian Energy Grid Atlas, and goes where a public map stops: your project, your portfolio, your question.

Sol Associates offers paid services and this page promotes them; it is information, not advice. Read our interests and conflicts disclosure before requesting work: Disclaimer.

Sol Associates SRL uses your enquiry and any campaign source you choose to include to reply and scope the work. See our Privacy Notice. Please do not send confidential information.

What the free Atlas already shows

The Romanian Energy Grid Atlas (DEMO edition) is a freely accessible map assembled from public sources. Each layer identifies its source, date and applicable reuse conditions; those conditions differ by source.

Start free: Grid Atlas (demo)

  • 11layers on the map
  • 42county areas
  • 762OpenStreetMap-mapped plant features in this snapshot
  • 1,748OpenStreetMap-mapped substation features in this snapshot

Atlas build 3ed40dc61b96, built on 4 November 2026; map features as of 4 November 2026, counted from the published data files. OpenStreetMap is mapped by volunteers and is not a census of the grid; plant features are as grouped by the map, not the national fleet.

What the Atlas shows

  • Power plants, substations and power lines as mapped in OpenStreetMap by volunteers
  • A dated wind and cloud forecast from a weather model
  • Modelled long-term solar averages
  • Daily national production by fuel, computed from ENTSO-E data
  • County totals of selected rows of the Government list of grid connection approvals (ATR) published on 25 April 2026

What the Atlas does not show

  • Grid loading, headroom or congestion
  • Whether any connection approval is valid or subject to any rule; the totals do not establish the present status of any project
  • Prices, trading or curtailment
  • The probability that any project is built or commissioned
  • A complete or national count of the grid: OpenStreetMap is mapped by volunteers and its completeness cannot be stated
  • Your own assets

Questions a public map leaves unanswered

A public map leaves project-specific questions unanswered. They need judgement, more sources and a defined scope, so we work on them under agreement, not as a map layer.

  1. What do dated, permitted public sources document about a project and the mapped network?Service 01
  2. What do historical price comparisons show under stated assumptions, without estimating project revenue?Service 02
  3. What does my own portfolio look like on the map?Service 03
  4. What changed in the agreed public-source record since the last note, and what remains unknown?Service 04

Grid Intelligence Services

What the services add

Four services, delivered under a written agreement and shaped to your question. They can be commissioned separately or together.

01

Grid and connection intelligence

What do dated, permitted public sources document about a project and the mapped network? We organise the evidence and identify gaps, with the sources and dates in view; we do not establish physical connection constraints or available capacity.

Typical outputAn evidence note for a project or a portfolio: what the dated public sources document, what they leave unknown, and the sources and assumptions used.

LimitA connection approval is decided by the grid operator. This work does not tell you whether an approval will be granted and is not an engineering opinion.

02

Historical price screening for storage and hybrid projects

What do historical price comparisons show under stated assumptions, without estimating project revenue? We compare derived indicators of day-ahead, intraday and balancing prices over a stated historic window, with sensitivities, subject to source permissions: no raw market tables are republished and no data provider endorses the result.

Typical outputA screening sheet and a short note: window, method, results, sensitivities and limits.

LimitPast prices are not a forecast. A screening is not a revenue estimate for a specific project and not an investment case.

03

Private Atlas layers

A private Atlas layer displays the data you supply, for the agreed scope, on top of the Atlas map: your assets, sites and deals next to the mapped network, the weather and the listed approvals. Who can open the build, and how it is hosted and protected, are set in the agreement before work starts.

Typical outputA private build of the Atlas with your layers, and a short guide to what each layer shows.

LimitA private build is a separate build. Its layers are not added to the public Atlas by this service.

04

Monitoring briefs

Short, periodic notes on what changed in the agreed public-source record since the last note, and what remains unknown, on a schedule agreed in advance. Each note says what changed, why it may matter, what it does not tell you, and where the facts come from.

Typical outputA short dated brief on the agreed schedule.

LimitA brief reports and explains public information. It is not a forecast, not a recommendation and not legal advice.

How it works

Three steps, in writing

  1. Tell us the decision

Send a briefing request that describes the project stage, the technology and the question in front of you. We will confirm whether we can take it forward and what the next scoping step is.

  2. Agree the scope

A short scoping conversation, then a written scope: the questions, the sources, the deliverables, the timing and the fee. Nothing starts before it is agreed. The engagement letter sets the limits of reliance.

  3. Receive the work

We deliver the agreed outputs with every source, date and assumption listed, so that you can check them. The decision stays with you.

Please do not send confidential documents with your first message. We agree the right channel after the first conversation.

Sample outputs

What the work looks like, from public data only

Samples of the form of the work, made only from sources admitted to this DEMO edition, subject to recorded reuse limits (Atlas build 3ed40dc61b96, built on 4 November 2026). They contain no client material, are not the result of any engagement and say nothing about any project. Your deliverable would be built to your question.

Sample A

Mapped grid by highest tagged voltage

OpenStreetMap-mapped substation and power line features in this snapshot, by the highest voltage tagged on each feature (as of 4 November 2026). A feature with several voltage tags is counted once, in its highest class: the 400 kV class is 380 to 420 kV, the 220 kV class is 200 to 240 kV, the 110 kV class is 100 to 150 kV; any other tagged voltage is listed as another voltage.

No voltage tag1,1322,362

Reading: of the 1,748 OpenStreetMap-mapped substation features in this snapshot, 1,132 have no voltage tag; the reason is unknown, and an untagged voltage does not mean a low-voltage substation. That is the kind of gap a screening has to name before it counts anything.

Counts of features as mapped by volunteers in this snapshot, not a national count of substations or lines. The map is not a census of the grid and how complete it is cannot be stated.

Sample B

Two formats of written output

The structure of a screening sheet and of a monitoring brief. Structure only: no data is shown here.

Screening sheet

  • Question and scope
  • Window and data used, with dates
  • Method in plain words
  • Results and sensitivities
  • What this does not tell you
  • Sources

Monitoring brief

  • What changed
  • Why it may matter for your portfolio
  • What it does not tell you
  • Sources and dates
Sample C

Wind and solar energy by day

Daily wind and solar energy, Romania, 28 October to 3 November 2026, in MWh (days with a complete record).

WindSolar

Daily wind and solar energy, Romania, 28 October to 3 November 2026, in MWh (days with a complete record).
DayWind (MWh)Solar (MWh)
28 Oct42,1404,289
29 Oct43,4653,839
30 Oct49,2014,322
31 Oct16,6192,572
1 Nov29,0073,858
3 Nov64,1143,235

Reading: over these 6 days, national daily wind energy ranged from 16,619 to 64,114 MWh, a factor of about 3.9 between the weakest and the strongest day. Day-to-day swings of this size are one of the inputs a storage or hybrid screening looks at.

Daily totals computed by Sol Associates from values published on the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform. Not a measurement by Sol and not a forecast. Days with a missing interval (2 Nov) are left out, because a missing interval understates the day. Past output is not a forecast of future output or prices.

Who it is for

For people who have to decide with the grid in view

The services are written for people who weigh a project, a portfolio or an asset against the Romanian grid.

  • Developers

Teams that develop wind, solar, storage or hybrid projects in Romania and need a sourced view of what public documents record about a site or a pipeline and the mapped grid.

  • Investors and lenders

Teams that review a project or a portfolio and want the grid and market questions answered with sources they can check.

  • Owners and asset managers

Owners of operating or contracted assets who want a private map of their portfolio and periodic notes on what changed in the public record.

  • Advisers and professionals

Legal, technical and financial advisers who need a sourced starting point on the Romanian grid for a client file.

What we do not provide

We do not quote available grid capacity, establish physical connection constraints, forecast prices or revenues, estimate the probability that an approval is granted, or give investment, legal, tax or engineering advice. If that is what you need, this is not the right service.

Data and limits

Data sources and limits

  • Information, not advice.

This page and the free Atlas are general information for professional users. They are not investment, legal, tax, regulatory or engineering advice, not an offer and not a recommendation. Sol Associates offers paid services and this page promotes them; its interests are set out on the Disclaimer page. Services are delivered under a written agreement that sets the scope, the sources and the limits of reliance. Take your own advice before a decision.

  • The Atlas is a DEMO edition.

It is assembled from public sources, updated periodically and not a live service. Each layer shows its own date.

  • County ATR totals are not capacity or headroom.

The Atlas sums selected rows of the Government list of connection approvals (ATR) published on 25 April 2026, by county; it does not establish their present project status. The totals are not installed capacity, not available or free capacity, not grid headroom and not a probability that any project is built.

  • Assets are as mapped by volunteers.

Power plants, substations and lines come from OpenStreetMap. The map is not a census of the grid. Operator names are as tagged and may be wrong.

  • Weather and solar layers are modelled.

The wind and cloud layer is a model forecast, not a measurement. The solar layers are long-term averages, not an estimate for any site and not a forecast.

  • Your data is used for the agreed work.

Your assets and deals are used for the agreed work. Terms of use, access and delivery are set in the agreement, and none of it appears on this page.

Questions

Questions people ask

Is this advice?

No. This page and the free Atlas are information for professional users, not advice and not a recommendation. Services are delivered under a written agreement that sets the scope, the sources and the limits of reliance. Legal, tax and investment advice comes from your own advisers.

Can you tell me whether my connection approval will be granted, or how much capacity is free at a substation?

No. The grid operator decides on connection approvals, and we do not establish physical connection constraints or available capacity. We can organise what public documents and the data you give us record, and say what they leave unknown. We cannot confirm free capacity or the outcome of an application.

Do you forecast prices or revenues?

No. Storage and hybrid screening looks back at published prices, shows sensitivities and states its limits. Past prices are not a forecast.

What happens to my data and my portfolio?

They are used for the agreed work. Terms of use, access and delivery, including any private build, are set in the agreement; the layers of a private build are not added to the public Atlas by this service. Please do not send confidential documents with your first message; we agree the channel after the first conversation.

How current is the Atlas?

It is a DEMO edition, assembled from public sources, updated periodically and not a live service. Each layer shows its own date. The samples above come from build 3ed40dc61b96, built on 4 November 2026.

Is the free Atlas enough?

For orientation, it can be: it shows where plants, substations and lines are mapped, with sources and dates. It does not answer the questions of a specific project. That is where the services start.

What does it cost and how long does it take?

Scope, timing and fee are quoted in writing after a short scoping conversation. This page shows no prices.

This page promotes Sol Associates' own services. Sol Associates' interests are set out on the Disclaimer page.
