The KP1 question to ask first is about the study, not the upload

Position as at 5 October 2026

Twenty-five days before the KP1 storage call closes, the question I ask first is not about the upload.

It is about the feasibility study. The study must be complete when the application is submitted. Most filing stress I see comes from treating the upload date as the deadline, when the real deadline is the day the study has to be finished and signed off.

So, four questions:

  1. On what date does the study finish? A date, not a hope.
  2. Who signs it off, and can they defend each assumption in the filing?
  3. How much time is left after it for the filing itself?
  4. Which of the four exclusions could bite: co-location, grouped structures, replacement capacity, double funding?

None of this says a project should or should not file. It says the answer is usually decided by the study timeline, weeks before anyone opens MySMIS2021.
