Wind balance-of-plant explorer

A wind farm is eight packages and one critical path the OEM controls

Click any part of the farm. For each package: the scope, what the turbine manufacturer expects from the BoP contractor, the interfaces you own, where contractors lose money, and what is specific to Romania. Informed by experience on the turbine manufacturer’s side. Generic practice only: each OEM’s own specifications govern, and no proprietary information from former employers is used.

Schematic, not to scale. Click a part of the farm or a package name. The package split varies by contract: some owners tender civil and electrical BoP separately, others as one BoP contract or as part of a full EPC.

Why this matters

Most wind BoP losses are interface losses

A turbine supply agreement passes delivery windows, readiness obligations and delay consequences down the chain. The BoP contractor who cannot prove a ready road, pad and foundation on the agreed date carries crane standby, rescheduled deliveries and, often, part of the owner’s liquidated damages. Getting the interface matrix right before signing is worth more than a sharper unit rate.

We review the interface matrix between your scope, the turbine supply agreement and the owner's contract before you price it, from the manufacturer's side as well as yours.
